Bethany Community Ministries is transforming lives through service.

Bethany Community Ministries (BCM) is a faith-based nonprofit organization formed in response to the challenging message found in 1 Peter 4:8-10: “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”

Our organization exists to strengthen, equip and encourage the Homewood community with hope through providing human services, youth ministry, counseling and education as a tangible expression of God’s love.

Programs with Purpose

Bethany Community Ministries has more than 20 years of experience providing high quality programs and services. Today, our work covers four key areas of impact: engaging youth, feeding neighbors, caring for seniors, and promoting wellness.

Engaging Youth

Our youth programs build academic performance and life skills while offering enrichment.

Programs

Feeding Neighbors

Homewood is a food desert. Our food services make resources accessible to our neighbors.

Programs

Caring For Seniors

Our senior programs address the medical and non-medical gaps that exist in our area.

Programs

Promoting Wellness

We're bringing wellness to our community with exercise, vaccines, screenings, and more.

Located in Homewood

In 1999, Bethany Baptist Church leadership initiated a fundraising campaign called “A Time to Soar” and raised $400,000 from its inner-city congregation of 350 members to build a community center.

We opened the doors of Bethany Center in 2000, a beautiful three level facility with 17 classrooms and offices, a kitchen, a fellowship hall and a multi-purpose gym.

Today, Bethany Community Ministries has effectively developed partnerships, energizing others in the greater Pittsburgh community to create long-term commitments to Homewood, which will bring needed transformation.
